Historic Restorations
MEB Architects has restored over a half
dozen significant historical estates and homes. The projects
have included some of the most prominent families and their
architects in Lake Forest and on the North Shore of Illinois in
the early 20th century.
MEB Architects has been blessed to work on
David Adler’s Mandel Residence; the Laurance H. Armour Residence “Two Gables”; the
Wilson and Noble Judah Coach Houses; and finally the Kersey
Coates Reed Residence, which architectural historians consider
one of his most significant works. Other commissions have been
for homes designed by other note worthy architects from the
early 20th century such as H.T. Lindeberg, Stanley Anderson, and
Edwin Hill Clark.
MEB Architects painstakingly researches the
home, architect, and all relevant architectural documents with
the goal to restore, refresh and once again make the home
relevant for today’s family and future generations.
